Get to know Afana Ceez

The well known Malawian music artist Paul Chisiano,who is commonly known by his stage name Afana ceez is the 27 year old(estimated) seventh day Adventist man, from Blantyre.Afana ceez is the last born won from a family of 2 children who are also boys only.

Paul grew up in Chichiri Blantyre until 2007 where he relocated to Tanzania because his father was working that side for 5-6 years then came back to Malawi in 2012.

Eventhough Paul and his family spent most of his life in Blantyre but he later travelled to Lilongwe to pursue his secondary school education at st John's Catholic school together with other musicians for instance Gwamba and Classic.

After learning at st John's Catholic school he went to Blantyre international university BIU to pursue his Bachelor's degree in finance accounting which after 4 years he was assigned to work with MCA as an intern but he did not finish it instead he was offered a job half way as an assistant accountant at Vitafoam and in 2021 was promoted be an actual account.

Paul also stated that the name Afana Ceez came because starting from a long time ago in his word's "he has always been the youngest in a way that he is always taken as a kid even now that he is working people still take him as a kid without the beard. Before the name Afana Ceez came he was known as lil ceez then he changed the lil to Chichewa which is now Afana Ceez.

Afana Ceez has never been married and he lives a single life, he says he is too occupied to be involved in a relationship because he never gets free time because of his work and music career therefore he wouldn't have any time to spend it with someone.

He has only been in the music industry for 3years commercially even though he started singing a while back. some of the highlights of his Career is 2023 because that's when he received alot of recognition from the music industry in a way that he received alot of contracts and also big shows.

One of Afana Ceez's breakthrough moments came with the release of his number 2 hit single "Kwachema", The song quickly became a continental anthem, propelling Afana Ceez into the international spotlight. Since then, he has consistently delivered chart-topping hits, earning him the title of "The award winner."

Afana Ceez's success is not limited to the airwaves; he has also received numerous accolades for his contributions to the music industry. He has won multiple awards at prestigious events including the money that was given by comesa. Afana Ceez`s influence extends beyond music, as he has become a fashion icon with his own brand called "King Pin"and a symbol of people. In addition to Afana Ceez`s solo career, singer has collaborated with some of the biggest names in music industry for instance zeze Kingston through his producer LeuMas.

Paul stated that some of the draining part in his music carrier is that Malawi's music industry is just being built which makes it really hard for one to benefit from only making music because even though the music isn't being posted on TV but the coming in of internet has made it very easy for people to gain access to some of the music.he also said that at first it was really hard for rap music to be aired on TV because they would prefer to put traditional or religious music but nowadays it is slowly changing because other genres of music are also aired.

Afana ceez music is inspired by Amapiano and his love of amapiano started because he used to love going to groove before he became an artist but stopped because of the attention he gets when in public places.

There are some people who act as a source of inspiration in his career for instance Gwamba becausehe has seen him grow since secondary school, Walter Nyamilandu who he even sang a song for at some time and Phyzix.

There was a time when Paul used to play football as an extracurricular activity but then he stopped and usually goes to the gym or the studio during but then except from going to the studio Afana ceez also loves to read novels during his free time which usually keeps him occupied and he has already read about 5 novels in 2024.

In 2015 during Dr Joyce Banda's ruling he used to dance at political functions or gathering's and he would get paid for it but then he stopped dancing for money and just does it for fun.

Some of his goals and inspirations is that he wishes that Malawi's music industry goes to abroad and his goal is to stop working as an accountant and focus more on his music career.

Paul values people who challenge his decisions and not just tell him that everything is good while he sang crap.

His advice to all upcoming artists is that they should focus on what they know and not on anything that they've seen people do because you might not be good at what they other person does it's better to explore the music industry before the settle for something for instance if you're good at speaking then it's better to try being a social media influencer in the same music industry.
